Cyalume Impact Self Activating Lightstick which has a 12-hour life. A
cyalume lightstick is made of a flexible plastic tube containing a
thin-walled glass tube. Inside the glass tube is a solution of hydrogen
peroxide dissolved in a phthalic ester. When the lightstick is bent,
the breakage of the thin-walled glass tube enables the contents to
blend with the outer solution.
A lightstick originates from a "cool light" source which does heat up a
conventional light bulb, they do not heat up while glowing. The faster
the lightstick reacts the brighter the lightstick glows. When the
reaction in a lightstick occurs at a faster rate, it will use up the
reactants inside more quickly than when the reaction occurs more
slowly.
