Unilock brick pavers are manufactured in a variety of shapes and colors for residential, commercial, municipal and industrial applications. The brick pavers offer Engineers, Architects, Landscape Architects and Planners several engineered placing systems that are durable, economical and ascetically attractive. The systems also lend themselves to a multitude of design applications. Unilock brick pavers are manufactured to tight dimensional tolerances. This, in combination with their interlocking capabilities, allows the surface to act as a total membrane with a high resistance to compressive loads and lateral forces.
Unilock concrete products are guaranteed for life. Brick pavers are manufactured to be a minimum strength two times greater than the strength of normal poured concrete.
The brick pavers can be placed either by hand or mechanically. A 90-degree herringbone pattern is the most common pattern used to minimize movement and maximize interlock between the brick pavers in trafficked pavements. A single or double soldier course (one or two rows) of brick pavers is usually placed beside the edge restraint. The soldier course is not only an architectural feature, but assists in holding in small cut pieces. The herringbone pattern abuts this soldier course resulting in a more stable surface at the edge and transition area to other pavements. Other patterns may be used in lightly trafficked and architectural pavements.
Advantages of Unilock brick pavers: • The design and performance advantages of Unilock brick pavers over other surfaces are dramatically reflected in the wide range of colors, individual shapes, texture, and variety of installation patterns. • Unilock brick pavers offer an economical alternative to other types of pavements when viewed in the long term where maintenance and replacement costs are considered. • Ability to tolerate some subgrade and/or aggregate base deflection while still maintaining pavement continuity and structural integrity. • Ease of access to underground services and utilities and subsequent replacement without visual or structural changes. • High compressive provides excellent surface durability. • Low water absorption rate helps to resist potential damage caused by fuel and oil leakage, salt scaling, and freeze-thaw cycles. • Superior skid resistance for both vehicular and pedestrian applications. • Simplicity of construction methods generally suited to unskilled labor. • Very low maintenance requirements.
